Responsibilities:

The Surgical Assistant provides comprehensive surgical assistance to the orthopedic surgeon in the out patient facility of New England Baptist Hospital. The SA will perform First Surgical Assistant duties in the OR with cases including: arthroscopy; sports medicine and orthopedics. Responsible for maintaining a visible, working surgical field, and under the direction of the surgeon, ties, cuts and sutures tissue procedures.

Responsibilities also include: room preparation; turnover; and facilitation of the daily surgery schedule.

Requirements:

• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA)

• 2 years of experience in surgical assisting, specifically in orthopedics; experience must be recent

• Wound closure skills required

• Superior surgical skills

• Team player with Operating Room staff

• Excellent judgment and attention to detail

• Ability to remain calm in pressured situations

• Excellent verbal communication skills
