WELCOME
Welcome once again to Norfolk!
On behalf of the 2018 Conference Planning Committee, President Aragon, and the
NSAA staff, let me welcome you to “The Main”, downtown Norfolk’s newest upscale
th
hotel for NSAA’s 35 Anniversary National Conference and General Meeting! I hope
that you will enjoy this great educational opportunity and visit with old friends,
make new friends, and explore the place where it all began in 1983!
Collectively this conference offers up to 16 contact hours of continuing education
units (CEU) featuring updates on state and federal policy. It also offers the
opportunity to network with your colleagues, discover the latest goods and services
for CSAs and students in the exhibit hall, and of course, dynamic speakers who will
share their unique perspectives on the role of the surgical assistant in the ever-
changing health care environment.
If this is your first time visiting Norfolk, prepare yourself to be amazed. Norfolk has
a little bit of everything as well as lots of restaurants and attractions. A popular
attraction is just down the street, Nauticus, where you can walk the decks of the
Battleship Wisconsin, or perhaps you can take in a baseball game at Tides Park.
This year’s location also offers convenient access to the MacArthur Center for
shopping or the Chrysler Museum of Art, where admission is always free.
So, if you have some extra time, get out and explore Norfolk, or take a dip in the
Atlantic, but first enjoy a great conference!
