Dr. Bradley C. Carofino
Dr. Brad Carofino is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in
shoulder & upper extremity surgery. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry at the
College of the Holy Cross in Worchester, MA and then went on to graduate from the University
of Connecticut School of Medicine. In addition to an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the
University of Connecticut in Farmington, CT, Dr. Carofino completed an advanced fellowship in
Shoulder & Elbow Surgery at The University of Washington and a Hand Surgery Fellowship at The
Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Carofino is an expert in shoulder replacement surgery, minimally invasive arthroscopic rotator
cuff repair, and complex reconstructive procedures of the upper extremity. He is one of a few
surgeons in Virginia, and the only one in the South Hampton Roads area, with fellowship training
specifically in Shoulder Surgery, and among a small number of surgeons in the country who have
completed both fellowships.
Dr. Carofino also cares for athletes with shoulder and upper extremity injuries. He is a team
physician for the Norfolk Tides (triple A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles) and a consultant for the
Norfolk State Athletic Department. Dr. Carofino sees patients in the Virginia Beach and
Chesapeake offices. He also volunteers his time to see uninsured patients at the Chesapeake Care
Clinic, because he believes the needs of the patient should always come first.
Outside of work, Dr. Carofino enjoys spending time with his wife Katy and their three young
children. He is a passionate but terrible golfer, and also likes to surf, jog and coach youth sports.
